“If you wanted to hold down a group of people without them knowing it, this woke thing is a good strategy.” -Dr. Erec Smith

Just over a year ago, I was applying for a job and there was an interview. It was a group interview with many other applicants attending. The person who was running the interview was boasting on how diverse their company was and that diversity and inclusion was a top priority for them. To which I spoke out “and that’s something to be proud of?” And there was a collective gasp from everyone in the room I think lol. But the person in charge said “yes I absolutely think that’s something to be proud of. Do you not think so?” To which I answered and said “no, I don’t.” When asked why, I said because hiring at any company should be based on things like merit, work experience, etc. Not because of their race, gender, etc. I gave an example, If you have two applicants for one job, a white man who has 25 years of direct work experience and a black man who has 1 year of work experience, and a company says “we are going to hire the black applicant because we don’t have enough black people working in our company, well that’s wrong and it’s a very stupid reason to give someone a job. To which the person in charge of the interview stated they disagreed with my take. I then said I disagreed as well and got up and left the interview and withdrew my application.
